The History of the Honda VFR750

The first Honda VFR750 was introduced by a well known journalist who went by the name Bol dOr. The model took off quickly and was immediately produced at Jerez. Later in 1986, Bol dOr launched a complete redesign that introduced a lower center of gravity, a much wider front tire, a shorter wheelbase and the most important factor was easily the much improved power output. This well suited motorcycle was awarded the Best 750 cc sport bike six years in a row from Cycle World.

The Honda VFR750 Specifications.

The Engine: A smooth ride is ensured with the well equipped 750cc liquid-cooled DOHC V4 four-stroke engine. The intact carburettor is air/petrol based and remained at a diameter of 70.0 x 48.6mm which remained the same throughout all Honda VFR750 models. A huge difference you will find when comparing the Honda VFR750 is that the crank was only 180 degree where as other models such as the VFR750R used a 360 degree crank.

The Chassis: The VFR750F was the beginning of the aluminium twin spar frame with the 750 class. This chassis weighed in at just 14Kg. This chassis at the time was one of a kind and could please even the biggest of thrill seekers. The Honda VFR750 outdoes the competition by miles (at least in its production time frame).

The Suspension: When the first generation of VFR750s arrived they were equipped with an anti-dive within the damping-rod front. The size it was first introduced with was just 37mm but was expanded to 41mm in 1988. The suspension arrived with a dual-sided aluminium swing-arm with a hydraulic adjustment in the rear. Later years the VFR750 came equipped with a no altering wheel alignment.

What makes the Honda VFR750 stand out?

The future models of the VFR750 actually helped produce three generations of VFR750 motorcycles. Many revisions were made during the later years that included the VFR750FL, the VFR750F and finally the Honda VFR800Fi. Honda has made a bright future with this sport touring motorcycle and to the riders who chose to ride it. This model stands out as being one of the first to have the guts to take the 750 cc engine and turn it into a much more amazing experience than what many previously enjoyed.

The gleaming glossy colours that covered the VFR750 model is a jaw dropping scene. Even better, the roar of the engine while passing an 80 mile stretch of just you and the road will actually turn out to be a pretty relaxing experience. The Honda VFR750 is sure to please any motorcycle enthusiast from 1986 until they completely become a collectors item stored away safely in the garage.
